Pirates Hold Sordid Affair At Wrigley

Pittsburgh’s starter, A. J. Burnett was working on a shutout most of the game, and it wasn’t until the 9th inning when, Alfonso Soriano broke through with, a 2 run HR to break the Pirates’ sordid hold on the Cubs that, the shutout would be erased.

Burnett had good command going in to the 9th, coming up short of a CG, and holding the Cubs at bay on their home ship at Wrigley Field.

Jeff Samardzija started for the Cubs, and for the 2nd day in a row it appeared another Cubs excellent ERA starting pitcher would be somewhat off their game. Samardzija yielded 4 runs to the Bucs over 6 innings.
