This Is Sweep!

The Chicago Cubs have brought the brooms out, and it was a sweet sweep! Three straight over the Giants.

On Saturday, Chris Rusin pitched well for 7 innings. allowing no ERs, and 3 Hs. Stat wise, he came out of the game, and ended up out of the personal w-l stat. Too bad because he did pitch well, and could take a lot of responsibility for the Cubs victory. Instead, Strop got the win, Gregg the save.

The only run in the game was a bases empty HR for Nate Scheirholtz. Details on the Cubs Home Page.

On Sunday, it was once again a low scoring pitching contest.

Cubs starting pitcher Travis Wood limited the giant woodsmen from
San Francisco to 4 Hs, and 1R which was unearned. Wood allowed 4 walks while striking out 7 through 7.

The Wood on the bat joined Wellington Castillo with bases empty HRs. It was all that was needed for the Cubs to pull out a 1 run victory, sweetened by a sweep. More details on the MLB Cubs Home Page.
