Brewers Ignore Strop Sign
Jeff Samardzija pitched great last night but, the bats were silent from the Cubs bench, and Milwaukee’s bench had no explosions until the 9th inning. Up until then, nothing for either side.
Samardzija went 7, struck out 7, issued 2 walks, and 3 hits. The Cubs offense offered 6 scattered hits on the night without anybody turning all the corners.
The final outcome would be calculated only in the 9th inning. Dale Sveum would be using a combination from the bullpen, and all was well until Pedro Strop relinquished 5 ERs in the 9th to the Brewers. The fateful numbers came on 3 hits, and a walk.
The final in Monday’s play 5-0 Brewers with a wrap from the
Cubs Home Page.
The Cubs go for recovery, and a double header with Milwaukee on Tuesday. One of the games is a make-up from a 4-10 game, postponed because of rain.
