Jake’s Sigh!

Okay, we can breathe again.  No sigh of relief, maybe but, now the Cubs have won 3 coveted Baseball Writers awards with a Cy for a starter.

Cubs starting Pitcher Jake Arrieta gets this year’s Cy Young Award.  Details on the Cubs Official Home Page.

This is the pitcher who found his way from the American League to the National League to become the Cubs lead starter with the addition of the Cy Young to his credit.

The Cubs Manager, Joe Maddon who managed the top award of the year by, the Baseball Writers referred to Arrieta as a Bob Gibson of this time period.

I tend to agree, as I used to enjoy the Koufax-Gibson match-ups from the 1960s.

On top of their game, you throw Arrieta in with today’s Starters like Verlander, Bumgarner, and Kershaw.  Could you imagine those guys on one team?  Talk about a fantasy!
