The Nervous Ninth

John Lackey held the Pirates to 1 run on 5 hits in 5.  Lackey made his final appearance during the regular season last night.

It appeared it might be easy but,  just when thoughts like that begin; Lightning!

The Cubs are coasting, at least to some degree but, damage can come at any time.

Bottom of the 9th, and the Bullpen allows 3 across.after the Cubs got 2 in the 9th.  It was close.  However, the Cubs prevailed.

Tonight’s game in Pittsburgh is already headed for the 7th inning with the Cubs trying to overcome a 6 run deficit.

Jake Arrieta started the game.  Arrieta looked flat compared to his last several games, and completes the year with a 3.10 ERA.
